The F-ing Application Process
There’s 1,000 ways to be professional, and 1,000,000 ways to say you’re capable of being a professional. Employers and recruiters spend an average of 6 seconds looking at your resume.
Neither your resume nor your cover letter get you jobs. The entire world is biased.
Who tells you that you have the most talent? Answer: friends, family, loved ones, etc..
Over 50% of the jobs I’ve held in the past 8 years have been through somebody I knew. The others were hard labor jobs…barely above minimum wage. In college, we have teachers showing us the importance of sculpting the perfect resume. While it’s important to have a good resume and know how to write a cover letter, neither will get you a job. You might as well go deer hunting with a BB gun. Shoot as many deer as many times as you want but you’ll still go home starving.
Do yourself a favor: maintain a good work ethic, don’t ever give up, expect to be fed up with the whole damn system and just try to impress somebody.
More than half of people tell some kind of lie on their resume. Don’t be like the majority. Just tell the truth. THEY’RE NOT LOOKING THAT CLOSE ANYWAY.
